Department Publishes Register of Emergency Plans

The Emergency Management Department of the Velocity Interoperability Network today published its register of emergency plans. The register contains twenty-four plans: six site emergency plans, one for each principal site of the Network; fourteen hazard response plans, covering hazards from flooding and severe weather to the loss of a principal site; and four Network continuity plans, which set out how the essential functions of the Network are to be maintained while a response is under way.

Every plan in the register names the office that owns it, states the sites it covers, and carries the date on which it was last reviewed and the date by which it must next be reviewed. Site emergency plans are reviewed every six months and hazard response plans every twelve months; a plan is also reviewed after any incident or exercise in which it was used. The register records the outcome of each review.

The plans were drawn from the arrangements transferred by member organisations during the transition period from 10 August to 5 September 2026, and were rewritten to a common form so that a response can be directed across more than one site. Nine exercises were held during the transition to test them, the largest being Exercise Meridian on 27 August 2026.
